Andy Kleindienst is a Trombonist/Bassist based in Durham, NC.

Having studied at Rutgers under Conrad Herwig and UNC Chapel Hill under Mike Kris, Andy is comfortable performing in a wide variety of musical situations. Since 2000, he has performed across the US and had the pleasure of performing with Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Frankie Valli, Tito Gomez, The Latin Brothers, The North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra, Soul Psychedelique, Atlanta Showstoppers, and Nnenna Freelon to name a few. He is a regular member of Orquesta GarDel, John Brown’s Little Big Band, La Fiesta Latin Jazz, Tres Amigos, and The Shakedown.

Andy is a passionate educator who loves working with students of all ages and abilities.

Since 2005, Andy has been teaching private trombone and bass lessons, focusing on sound development, musicianship, and stylistic playing in Classical, Jazz, Afro-Cuban, and Pop settings. He enjoys working with each student on becoming the best musician they can be. He routinely has students audition for and make top local, regional, and national youth ensembles. However, it’s more than just musicianship Andy focuses on. He enjoys relating to students through their interests and connecting musical concepts to things they enjoy outside of music.
